In Hölderlin, Mandelstam, Judith Balso continues her work on the intersections of poetry, philosophy, and politics. In the English lecture on the German poet Friedrich Hölderlin, she agitates against Heidegger’s depoliticized interpretation, and argues for the figure of revolution in Hölderlin’s work. In the second lecture, in French, she dissects the relation between Russian poet Ossip Mandelstam and Joseph Stalin, analyzing, among others, “Epigram against Stalin” and the “Ode to Stalin.”
